Doss Initial Flight Screening

Guest Rules and Procedures:

To assist with your planning, the following excerpts from the Facility ROE are provided:

Students are required to crew rest in the IFS facility.
- This means if you are scheduled to fly the next day, you will be in your dorm room, 8 hours prior to your scheduled report time.

Guests are authorized in the IFS facility between the hours of 1700L and 2200L, Friday thru Sunday.

Guests must sign in/out at the front desk and will display their “visitor” pass while in the facility.  Guests will be escorted at all times.

No overnight guests are allowed

Prior Military Training Officer (MTO) approval is required for visitation outside of these hours.  During visiting hours, guests may purchase and consume meals in the Dining Facility, but are not allowed on the aircraft ramp or in the gym without prior MTO approval.  Security will contact you in the event your guest has not signed out by 2200L.  Please contact the Security Operations Center at x8535 prior to guest arrival to gain facility access.

Dependents/Significant Others :

Initial Flight Screening (IFS) is a highly structured, six week flying training course conducted in a controlled facility.  Designed to mirror other military aviation training, IFS is front-end loaded and extremely time consuming.  Teamwork is essential to success.

Bottom line is … successful course completion demands minimal distraction(s).  With this in mind, students are highly encouraged to attend training unaccompanied.

The basis for this recommendation is simple.  In addition to the statements above, IFS is funded to support the needs of trainees, not their dependents.  Lodging, dining and gymnasium facilities are designed to accommodate students … not their guests.  While crew rest and visiting hour limitations (See Facility ROE) may be viewed by some as restrictive, they will be strictly enforced.

In the event you choose to disregard the above recommendation and travel accompanied, it is your responsibility to coordinate for all dependent needs.
